A Must-Have...

Ready for a super chic page-turner?

Well, when it comes to icons, some are totally untouchable,

and just no one compares to this one.

THE Woman who started it all and who practically invented fashion as we know it,

Coco Chanel.

From the creation of the "little black dress",

remember Audrey Hepburn in 'Breakfast at Tiffany's',

to the very idea of couture.

Always ahead of her time, the woman lived a seriously crazy life of... design, art, fashion, and-ahem-boyfriends. SO just how did she go from the poorhouse to the top of fashion house?

That's only a question that Karen Karbo answers in her half-biopic half-self-help book,

*The Gospel According to Coco Chanel: Life Lessons from the World's Most Elegant Woman*

This is definitely on our 'List of Things' to get!

pink, piNK, PINK!

... it's more than just a color!

New Trend Alert...

It seems that more and more brides are using a favorite song, or even a meaningful song of the couples, in the overall theme of the wedding.

One for me, personally, that comes to mind for *Chic Talk* is "PINK" by Aerosmith... Chic is definitely pink friendly!

So get creative, what would be your favorite or a meaningful song that would help express you and your love on your special day? Maybe the two of you have a favorite song, or maybe he has given you a song?

You could use the lyrics throughout key pieces on your day, the wedding cake, wedding programs, attached to your favors, break up the song lyrics and place in frames to be placed on your tables during the reception, use the song title as a signature drink for the cocktail hour! The possibilities are limitless!

Guests gripes!

Ok, so we have all heard of "bridezillas" and stories of what brides encounter....now let's look at some of the things wedding guests gripe about! Brides, hopefully you will keep these things in mind when planning your wedding.

*Terrible Timing - when you have too much time between your ceremony and the reception. What are they to do for 2-3 hours and still be ready to go to the reception? Sometimes, they just lose interest and don't show up.

*No "Plus Guest" - some single guests hate having to go alone, especially if they don't really know most of your guests.

*Cash Bars - yes, of course they hate that! They would much rather show up and not have to pay for their drinks!

*No or Bad Directions - especially for out of town guests and especially if there is quite a distance between the ceremony and reception.

*Late, Late Meals! - Not necessarily late hours...but also just prolonging the meal being served! Sometimes the toasts go on and on, or the couple is taking too long to take their pictures, etc....the guests are starving and ready to eat!

*Inconvenient or Un-affordable Accommodations - Please be considerate of this and remember it is a good idea to give maybe 3 hotel options - a lower, medium and higher price range. It is always a good idea to also arrange for shuttles from the reception back to the hotel so the guests can drink and have a good time without having to worry about getting a DUI!

*Long, Boring Toasts -Yes, they really hate those! Remind the people that will be toasting it is best to keep them short and to not tell too many "inside joke" stories that mean nothing to 95% of the guests.

*Outdoor Events - When It's 98 degrees! - Need I say more?! Totally uncomfortable!

*Cocktail Hour & No Seating - It is very difficult to mingle, talk and eat at the same time while holding a plate in one hand and a drink in the other! Twice as bad if it takes place in that 98 degree weather we talked about!

There are more, but this is a start...if you have some to add, let us know!

These are not things you should never do - it is simply a list of things we have heard guests complain about!

For today's blog we found a couple of things that are perfect for the day after 'Shoes-day Tuesday'! We haven't tried either of these yet, but will be searching them out in a store near us soon! What great inventions for all of us 'high heel shoe lovers'....can't believe we didn't think of this!

Ever had to walk in the grass in your heels....annoying, right? These are called SoulMates...genious!

So this looks like a deodorant stick - you apply it to the balls of your feet (or other areas that tend to slip or rub). Perfect for all us high-heel/stiletto lovers!
Isn't it amazing what people dream up - and they become millionaires from simple little inventions that seem so "common-sense"! When I see stuff like this I always think "why didn't I think of that!?"

"Shoes-day" Tuesday

shoes, Shoes, SHOES!

Starting today we will be featuring our weekly "Shoes-day Tuesday"!
Can't wait to share some of our favorite shoes with you - how fun will this be!?
At first we thought, maybe we shouldn't do it every Tuesday - we will run out of shoe's...
but it didn't take more than a half a second to say "nah - never"!
Our problem will more than likely be how to limit ourselves to one pair per week!
So join us as we share our obsession with fabulous shoes!
(and we promise that they won't ALL be in the colors of- black, pink, white)

My I don't have to run-day
It's just another manic Monday

Cute Bridesmaids Shoes!

"Pump up" a basic color scheme...add a pattern in a most unexpected place! This was a black, white and pink wedding - the bridesmaids wore black Guess pumps with white polka dots adding a fun touch to their classic black dresses. What a fun idea...and it looks great!

My Huckleberry Friend...

It's been 2 weeks and 2 days today, since I lost my best friend.

And it just doesn't seem right, to me, to return to the "blog world" without first having a little something special for him.
Have you ever met someone who you had everything in common with, I mean so much that it was kind of scary? Well that's how it was for us. In fact, in high school we both agreed to be each other's "back ups"- if you watched "F*R*I*E*N*D*S" then you know what I'm talking about- if not... a back up is when two people agree at a certain age if neither are married, then they will marry each other.
We shared everything in common from little things as our favorite drink- cherry coke, to views on politics, to our love for both Audrey Hepburn and "Breakfast at Tiffany's" ... which we always would watch coming back from nights out or even on nights in, that movie would always find it's way into the DVD player!

for my Zachary Thomas ...

*moon river, wider than a mile
i'm crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
wherever your going, i'm going your way
two drifters, off to see the world
there's such a lot of world to see
we're after the same rainbow's end,
waitin' round the bend
my huckleberry friend, moon river, and me*

MIA

Sorry - I know we have been MIA the past couple of weeks, there has been a lot going on. Alisha's best friend died suddenly - at the age of 22 - & that has been very hard for her to deal with, so as you may imagine she has not felt quite up to"blogging".

I have been busy - spent a week in Atlanta - combined work with some fun! Got to catch three Dodger/Braves games.....go Dodgers! ;) Had some exciting meetings while there..the future looks even more exciting for Chic Designs!

This week has started out with a bang.....meetings with brides, food tastings, cake tastings, proposals....some of the things we love about our job!

Off to work on more proposals.....more blogging soon - I promise!
